THE EXAM QUAY METHOD

How thoughtful practice works

First, choose the right practice

Our collections follow the subjects and skills of different 11+ routes, with three original papers per covered subject. They are independent practice, not official papers or complete admissions simulations.

Read the collection guide before choosing. CSSE written-answer skills and HBS second-round Maths are adapted to multiple choice. Kent and Bexley use separate subject-practice windows rather than the complete official paper sequence. Non-verbal and spatial reasoning, and assessed continuous writing, are not included.

Every paper shows its question count, timer and topics before purchase. Our 50-question papers and stated durations are practice specifications, not a claim that all official exams have the same format.

Then, sit the whole paper

Each £5 purchase includes one timed sitting, worked explanations and 90 days of access. A parent arranges the purchase, saves a private access pass and pays through Stripe. The timer begins only when the learner is ready.

The learner can scroll through the whole paper, revisit questions and flag answers. Questions have five or six labelled answer options. If more than one answer is required, the exact number is stated. Answers save while the learner works; the timer continues through refreshes and connection loss.

Choose standard time or 25% extra time before beginning. No medical information is requested. A paper submitted with extra time still receives marking and explanations but does not enter the standard-time comparison.

A mark you can understand

Each fully correct answer earns one mark. For multiple-answer items, every required selection must be correct with no extras. There is no negative marking. Your report shows the number correct, percentage correct, unanswered items, topic results and a worked explanation for every question.

Our papers undergo mathematical checks and editorial review, including checking answer options and passage evidence. They have not yet been independently teacher-moderated or calibrated through pupil trials. Topic difficulty labels are internal author judgments, not measured difficulty statistics.

BENCHMARKING POLICY

Comparison starts with evidence.

Until an exact paper version has 100 eligible first standard-timed sittings, we show raw marks, topic feedback and the sample size. We do not display a provisional or invented percentile.

At 100 eligible sittings, we report an empirical midpoint percentile: the percentage scoring lower, plus half the percentage tied. The current eligible sitting is included. For example, a score with 60 lower scores and 10 tied scores in a cohort of 100 has a midrank percentile of 65.

Only verified live purchases count. Demonstrations, test purchases, extra-time attempts and identifiable repeat sittings are excluded. A private identifier based on the purchaser’s email and consistent learner nickname helps recognise repeats; it is not perfect proof of identity. Refunds and disputed payments are removed. Only the first started sitting for a recognised learner and exact paper version can enter; an earlier extra-time, unfinished or refunded sitting still prevents a later attempt counting as first. Scores from a materially revised paper are kept separate. The comparison uses eligible scores retained within the last 12 months.

This is a self-selected Exam Quay practice cohort, not all applicants to a particular school or a national sample. The comparison may change as more eligible learners sit the paper. A percentile is not an admission probability or pass prediction.

Why historical scores stay separate

Official results may involve different questions, candidates, marking and age standardisation. A historical cutoff or score distribution cannot tell us the percentile of a score on a new original paper without a valid linking study. We therefore use official information to explain formats and admissions context, not to manufacture an early benchmark.

Admissions may involve more than a test mark: further stages, age standardisation, oversubscription criteria and eligibility rules differ. Check the relevant school, consortium or council directly. A practice result is not a place offer.

Printable papers and bundles

Every £5 paper includes printable A4 questions and a separate worked-answer booklet, using the same questions as its online sitting. Download after payment from My papers. £15 subject bundles contain the same Papers 1–3 sold individually, with one online sitting each. Offline answers are self-marked and not uploaded. Downloading a booklet before completing online excludes that sitting from the first-sitting comparison.
